The Jamaica Defence Force Military E-Health Information Network, created in collaboration with Vista LifeSciences, has launched at the JDF Moneague Training Camp. The launch took place on July 9, 2013. Vista Electronic Medical Pathways, Vista EMP, will be utilized throughout the JDF Military E-Health Network.

The network will facilitate the creation and storage of electronic health records as well as other health information that supports HIV and STI services through Vista EMP. The main approach for this project is a mobile netbook computer configured with a full suite of electronic medical data tools which allows the JDF medical personnel from remote locations to connect to the central military base at Up Park Camp.

The Launch was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica, Pamela Bridgewater, who commended the leadership of the Jamaica Defence Force for taking this step towards strengthening the military's capacity to deliver efficient health services, by harnessing the potential of information technology to improve the quality of care.

There are currently eight countries with electronic health information systems. The JDF is the first in the Caribbean Region to successfully adopt the e-health information system which represents two fundamental and interconnected aspects of U.S. Government and Jamaica's bilateral relationship – security and health.
